Committed to holding remaining tournaments: Sourav Ganguly to state units | Cricket News


MUMBAI: A day after the BCCI postponed the remaining home cricket of the season, together with the Ranji Trophy, (barring the Cooch Behar Trophy), due to the rising variety of Covid instances within the nation, former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has communicated to all of the state associations that “the BCCI would like to reassure that it will do everything to restart the domestic season once the Covid situation is under control,” and that “we (the Board) are committed to holding the remaining tournaments for this season.”
In the e-mail, (TOI has a duplicate), addressed to the presidents and secretaries of all of the state associations on Thursday, Ganguly has defined that the BCCI was pressured to take the choice to postpone the remaining home tournaments within the gentle of “increasing Covid cases and multiple cases in many teams.”
“Dear members, a very happy and prosperous new year to you and your family members. As you are aware, we had to put on hold the currently on-going domestic season due to the worsening Covid-19 situation. The Covid cases are rapidly increasing and there were multiple positive cases in many teams. It posed an imminent threat to the health and safety of players, officials and all others related to the running of the tournaments.”
Ganguly has written to the state units that the BCCI “will shortly come back to you with a revised plan”. “The BCCI would like to reassure that it will do everything to restart the domestic season once the Covid situation is under control. We are committed to holding the remaining tournaments for this season. The Board will shortly come back to you with a revised plan. I thank you for your support and understanding. Please look after yourself and stay safe and healthy. Regards, Sourav,” he wrote within the electronic mail.
